15 Day Book Blogging Challenge Day 9!

So I've been totally failing at this challenge and am now just going with the failure and continuing with today's prompt:

Why do you blog about books?

I don't think I'd even be blogging if I wasn't blogging about books. It sort of came natural after Jamie asked on the College Students group on Goodreads who wanted to participate and because I already had lots of opinions, of course I wanted in!! My own blog popped up a bit after and I've been doing this ever since.

I've always been a reader. With the exception of some of my teen years, I've always been reading a lot of books and wanting desperately to talk about them with others. As most of the people I know in real life don't really read as many books as I do (and they're also not reading the same books), I didn't have much opportunity to vent about my latest obsession.

I love that book blogging allows me to show off my love for books and support authors and just geek out over all the things I love in books. Whether they're the boys or the plot or the world or basically ANYTHING, I always know there's someone out there who will nod along.

I can't imagine NOT blogging anymore, it's become such a big part of my life! It's made reading become not such a solitary activity and I LOVE that!

So, why do YOU blog about books? Link me to your post!

  1. It's so nice to go online and meet people that want to read something not on the NY Times Bestseller list. Most of the "readers" I know in person have read The Mortal Instruments, Twilight, Harry Potter, DaVinci Code, and 50 Shades of Grey.

Most of the "readers" I meet online know at least half of those books are complete crap and can list at least 5 indie writers with more talent.

    1. Haha, I love that I can talk about more obscure books and there will always be someone out there who has read it as well :)

  2. Fantastic answer :) I really love how you said it's changed your reading from a solitary activity to a group activity, so true ;) Like you, many of my friends are non-readers or certainly not as much of a book lover as I am so it's hard for me to talk to them about the books I've just read...they just don't get it :( I'm so happy with the book blogging community and I really enjoy blogging!

    1. I would love if my friends were bigger readers, but alas, they have other awesome qualities :)
And yes, the community is AWESOME!

  3. Geeking out over books is one of my favourite things. I could do it on my own, but I'm pretty sure my husband -- the non-reader -- would think I was crazy. He already thinks that when I start jumping around when an awesome book comes in the mail. It's nice that reading can be a solitary thing, but that we can share it with so many people!

  4. This is definitely the reason I started blogging as well! I never had anyone to really discuss books in depth with before (except the boy, which was pretty nice too). But seriously, it's been so great to have discussions and make friends with people who adore reading as much as I do!
