THE READATHON IS HERE! :D
It's that time of the year again, the time where we get together and READ! YAY! It's readathon day! I LOVE Dewey's 24 hour readathon and even more so now that I get to spend it with my book club ladies of awesome :)
I'll be heading over to Daph's house in about 30 minutes and I still need to pack (EEP), as in pick out what books to take with me and gather the snacks and just... NOT ENOUGH TIME!
So here's a quick answer to the introduction questions :)
1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
I'll be reading from Daph's home in Zaandam, which'll be awesome :)
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
I haven't picked out my books yet! *panicks* *panicks some more* But I am looking forward to just reading some of the books on my shelves, though I'll also be bringing my ereader.
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
ALL THE SNACKS! :) I'm bringing banana profiteroles, which are SO good! I'm sure the other girls will also be bringing snacks, so I probably won't have to eat for a couple of days after I get home tomorrow.
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
Hello everyone! :) I'm Daisy, 28 years old, resident of Holland, proud kitty momma and during the day I'm a GP in training, currently in my final year of residency. I've been blogging for about 6 (might be 7) years I think and try to always make time for the readathon, cause it's awesome. Other things I love include the boyfriend, cooking/baking, READING obviously, pirates and lots of TV shows (including but not limited to ANTM, Nashville, Awkward, Downton Abbey, Suits, White Collar).
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
I'm going over to Daph's and I'm finally meeting her cute cat, so that'll be different. Other than that, I'm just going to relax, read and enjoy my book club ladies' company.
Happy read-a-thon-ing everyone!!

Iiiiiit's READATHON DAY!
It's that time again, the time when I try to clear my whole weekend in honor of Dewey's 24 Hour Read-a-thon! It's one of my favourite events ever and it's double fun now because I have the awesomest book club in book club history and we're doing this together! YAY! Last time we were at my house, a week after the official event, but today we're joining in with all of the other amazing people who will be reading up a storm today.
Because I'll be at Debby's, I probably won't be blogging much during the event, so I'm posting the start of the event questionaire thingy early :)
1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
I'll be reading from Debby's home in Rotterdam, which I'll be leaving for in less than an hour and OMG STILL NEED TO PACK THINGS. *panicks*
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
This is the stack of books I'll be bringing:
As usual, I'm mostly just looking forward to getting to read some of my physical books, though my pretty new ereader is tempting me with all these books too...
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
From the look of things, we'll be having ALL the snacks, I'm really looking forward to trying Debby's guacamole and I made Oreo cheesecake cupcakes, which are yummy :) I think I won't really have to eat for a week after this.
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
Hello everyone! :) I'm Daisy, 28 years old, resident of Holland, proud kitty momma and during the day I'm a GP in training, currently doing my psychiatry rotation. I've been blogging for about 6 years I think and try to always make time for the readathon, cause it's awesome. Other things I love include the boyfriend, cooking/baking, READING obviously, pirates and lots of TV shows (including but not limited to ANTM, Nashville, Awkward, Downton Abbey, Suits).
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
I'll be going over to Debby's, which is a change cause I've only ever read at my house or my parents'. Aside from that, I'm just gonna chill, read books, enjoy my awesome bookclub's company and wear a bunny onesie, which is also new.
Happy read-a-thon-ing everyone!!

End of the Event Meme
Awwww, it's over already! Sad... It's gonna be AGES before the next readathon! Oh well, I do REALLY feel like just vegging around on the couch all day and watch some tv.
End of Event Meme:
Which hour was most daunting for you?
I went to sleep around 3 AM, which is hour 13 or 14 I think.
Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?
I suggest some light reading, and if you're looking for edge of your seat kind of book, go for All Our Yesterdays. It was SO good!
Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?
Nope, I love it the way it is.
What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?
EVERYTHING.
How many books did you read?
I finished 3, DNF-ed 1 and started another.
What were the names of the books you read?
The Viscount Who Lived Down the Lane by Elizabeth Boyle
Just Like the Movies by Kelly Fiore
All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill
The Hero's Guide to STorming the Castle by Cristopher Healy
Which book did you enjoy most?
All Our Yesterdays! But I'm really liking The Hero's Guide To Storming the Castle as well so far :)
Which did you enjoy least?
The one I DNF-ed, which I did not list.
How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?
VERY LIKELY. I'm gonna try and clear my schedule for the day when it's announced when exactly it'll be.

Readathon Mid-Event Survey
So it's already 1AM here and I'm kinda feeling it, but the kitty is being cuddly and I think she's really enjoying having me stay up a little longer with her than usual :)
Mid-Event Survey:
1. What are you reading right now?
Just Like the Movies by Kelly Fiore, it's really cute!
2. How many books have you read so far?
This is my second book.
3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon?
I'm debating between All Our Yesterday after I finish this and The Hero's Guide To Storming the Castle.
4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?
One of the boyfriend's friends had his birthday party, so that took about 4-4,5 hours, but oh well, I managed.
5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?
How not hungry I've been so far. I usually just keep snacking away, but I have all these snacks and I'm not really interested in them... More for the 'hangover' munchies tomorrow right? :)
Ok, back to reading!

Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon is HERE AGAIN!! YAYYYYY!!!
I AM SO EXCITED!!! The Readathon is here again and it's AWESOME. And even though I'll have to go to a social event (one of the boyfriend's friends is having a birthday party, how inconsiderate right?), but I'm gonna try and pull through all night, so we'll see how that goes.
For the Opening Meme:
1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
I'm reading from the house we moved to a little over 6 months ago in Lent, Holland :)
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
I'm basically just looking forward to reading some of the books I bought myself instead of review books, though I am excited about reading those as well.
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
I have a ton of snacks, but I'm mostly looking forward to roasting marshmallows over a candle (I'm not sure if it's gonna work, but if it does, it's gonna be AWESOME).
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
Hi! :) I'm Daisy, I've been blogging for 5 years and have participated in the Readathon a bunch of times already and I always love doing it. I'm a GP in training (which is what Zoƫ Hart does in Hart of Dixie, but without any training for the specialty), currently working in a nursing home. I'm currently a bit obsessed with Hart of Dixie, am watching the whole series for the second time and ZADE! It really needs to happen. Also: my reading companion is a 6 months old tiny black kitten who is gonna be my biggest distraction probably.
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
I'm just gonna chill and read outside (cause I can, cause we have an outside now, which is exciting) and try to snack on some healthy things as well. I bought carrots and mango chunks and I'm gonna hydrate till I just can't hydrate no more.
HAVE FUN EVERYONE!

Dewey's Read-a-Thon End of the Event Meme
So I stopped reading half an hour before time was up because I just couldn't read anymore and I wanted to watch Hart of Dixie and have all the Wade feels. But after a shower, I feel refreshed and am back to fill in the End of the Event Meme!
Which hour was most daunting for you?
The last one. I just couldn't do it anymore and decided to give myself a break and just watch TV.
Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?
I like to mix in a little light reading, like a cute contemporary, but anything that grabs your attention is fine.
Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?
Nope, I love it the way it is!
What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?
Everything.
How many books did you read?
3, started my fourth :)
What were the names of the books you read?
Eon by Alison Goodman
Fall With Me by Julie Particka
The Taking by Kimberly Derting
How To Lose a Duke in 10 Days by Laura Lee Guhrke
Which book did you enjoy most?
Eon!
Which did you enjoy least?
The Taking, it was too filled with the build up for the rest of the series for me.
How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?
VERY likely! I'd be reading again :)
Now excuse me while I get some of the things done around the house that have been put on the back burner because of the Read-a-Thon!

Dewey's Read-a-Thon is HERE!
It's time for the readathon again! I love participating in this event and although I started a bit late due to a birthday party I had to attend, I've been going strong since the 4th hour :) Reading in the car while the boyfriend was driving, which wasn't so much fun for him probably, but he understands.
So here are my answers to the intro-meme:
1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
I'm reading from our new home in Lent, the Netherlands.
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
I haven't actually made a stack, but I am very much enjoying Eon by Alison Goodman and hope to finish it in the next couple of hours.
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
I'm actually a bit done with snacks after the birthday party, so we'll see if I crave something in a couple of hours or not... I do have a stack of chips, cookies, peanuts and M&M's, so I should be good :)
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I'm a 26-year-old GP in training, I've been blogging here and at the Broke and the Bookish for almost 4 years and aside from reading, I spend my free time cooking, watching TV shows like Hart of Dixie, Game of Thrones and ANTM.
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
I'm just gonna take it easy and read whatever I feel in the mood for and sleep if my body gives me signs it is shutting down, so pretty much how I do it most readathons :)
I hope everyone is enjoying it so far and happy readathoning! I'll update here and on Twitter (@DBetweenpages)

Dewey's 24 Hour Read-A-Thon is here!! And I'm participating only a little...
It's that time of the season again: time for Dewey's 24-Hour Read-a-Thon!! I LOVE this event and I'm so sad that I will only get to participate for a couple of hours as I'm being social tonight and have to be at work at 8AM tomorrow morning, so I can't read through the night... *has lots of sads over this*
BUT! I hope you're all having fun and getting your read on, cause that's what it's all about :)
Happy read-a-thon-ing!

Read-a-Thon End of the Event Meme
Awww, I'm so sad it's over!!! These 24 hours always just seem to fly by!
As is tradition, I'll finish this lovely event with the End of the Event meme:
Which hour was most daunting for you?
I think it was actually around 11PM my time, and just before I went to sleep at 3AM
Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?
I try to mix in some lighter or funny reads, cause I can more easily keep myself focused on those. But something intense like Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy series is always a good idea as well :)
Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?
Nope, I love it the way it is!
What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?
EVERYTHING! The hosts were doing an amazing job!
How many books did you read?
If I count both my half finished books, 3.
What were the names of the books you read?
-The River of No Return by Bee Ridgway
-How Zoe Made Her Dreams (Mostly) Come True by Sarah Strohmeyer
-Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead
-The Hero's Guide to Saving Your Kingdom by Christopher Healy
Which book did you enjoy most?
Without a doubt Shadow Kiss.
Which did you enjoy least?
I liked all my books :)
How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?
YES ABSOLUTELY! I will SO be there! And I'll be a reader again, I love it :)
The final tally:
Books finished: 3
Pages read: 1050
Distracted by: the boyfriend, lunch and as always Twitter ;)
Now excuse me while I go and try to de-zombify myself and look a little more presentable for when the boyfriend comes home later. And watch some Pretty Little Liars :)

Distracted by: sleep, warm sleeping boyfriend, SLEEP
Now for the home stretch! WE CAN DO THIS! :D

Definitely the amazingly awesome avocado dip I made, it is SO GOOD!
5) Have you found any new blogs through the readathon? If so, give them some love!
I've mostly been on Twitter, I'm trying to keep distractions to a minimum and it's kinda hard. But if I'm not following your blog, leave me a link and I'll check it out!
My own format of updating:
Books finished: 2 (yay!)
Pages read: 460

Read-a-Thon Update (2)
So how are you all doing? I had a socially induced break because of heading over to have dinner with the boyfriend's family but then they all decided to watch a soccer match and I got an hour of reading in. I've been back for about an hour now and I'm trying to do a little catching up. I do miss having a reading buddy though! I might have to borrow one of my parents' puppies for the October readathon!
Books finished: still 1
Pages read: 240
Distracted by: TWITTER, dinner, the boyfriend's family, TWITTER
Well, I'm off to read some more, hope you guys are all having fun!
Read-a-Thon Update (1)
Hi guys!
How are you all doing? I've just finished my first book, even though it's a little bit cheating, since I was over halfway through it already.
Now I have to leave for a bit to have dinner at the boyfriend's parents', but after I'll be back to go strong!
Books finished: 1

Getting Excited For the Read-a-Thon!
Seriously, I'm as excited as this hamster is about Dewey's Read-a-Thon tomorrow!! :D I've been looking forward to this awesome event for weeks!
I've already done some planning, I've collected snacks (among other I have chocolate, chips, avocoda dip) and I'm slowly figuring out what to read, though the list does need some final touches and I'll probably switch it up at the last minute tomorrow ;) I'm thinkin that the list should at least include Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead because I need me some more Rose and Dimitri!!
I've managed to mostly clear my schedule except for dinner with the boyfriends' parents which will probably take up a couple of hours...
Who's joining in as well??

Bout of Books read-a-thon 5.0 Goals!
From the Bout of Books blog:
"The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 13th and runs through Sunday, August 19th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 5.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog.
-From the Bout of Books 5.0 team"
So I had SO MUCH FUN in May with the Bout of Books read-a-thon! I also had a lot more time to participate then, but this will not stop me from trying my best this time around!
I'm working all week, except for Wednesday and the weekend, so I'm going to keep my goals casual and not stress myself out too much about it.
My goals:
-Read as much as I can given the 40 hours of work I do in 4 days.
-Participate in the chats when I can
-HAVE ALL THE FUN!
That's it.
Are you participating as well? Link me and I'll check out your goal post :)

Sarah Says Read Summer Mini Readathon!!
Hi all!!
Today is a wonderful sunshiney (so far, it's only 10.30AM) day and I seem to finally be conquering the annoying cold that has been with me this past week :)
So, GOOD DAY!
Today is also the day of Sarah Says Read's Summer Mini Readathon!
Here's the plan according to Sarah:
-Read for any 12-hour block on Sunday, July 29th.
-Sarah’ll come up with some mini-challenges, and you can participate if you so choose.
-You may or may not win something via the mini-challenges.
-Tweet along with other mini-readathoners if you’d like via #ssrminiread
-Have fun and get some reading done.
So I'm going to do just that. I started at 9AM my time and will try to read as much as I can until 9PM. I've already finished one book: Shadow of Night, but it's slightly cheating since I only had about 90 pages left in it. But still: YAY!
If you're participating as well, or want to chat for any other reason whatsoever, find me on Twitter: @DBetweenpages

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon update!
I will just keep updating this instead of making a new post all the time I think. Or I might not, we'll see how it goes :)
Progress so far:
Day 1
Time read: 2.15-2.30 hours!
Pages read: around 150
Books finished: 0
Evaluation: YAY GOAL ACCOMPLISHED!!! I thought I would never make 1,5 hours, but then I went to bed and wasn't sleepy at all: so full extra hour of reading time! Score!
Day 2
Time read: 2 hours
Pages read: I think around 120-ish
Books finished: 1
Evaluation: goal accomplished again! :) YAY! Also, I finished my first book The Summer My Life Began by Shannon Greenland and wrote the review, so go productivity!
Day 3
Time read: 1.45 hours
Pages read: 100
Books finished: 0
Evaluation: goal accomplished, but barely! Twitter and the puppy and the boyfriend and even the TV were being shiny and distracting me. Also, I needed to pick up my mom's car and that took 2,5 hours, so yeah... I also wasted a lot of time looking at pretty clothes on the interwebs... I kinda sucked yesterday, cause I only had half a day at work and didn't read as much as I'd planned to.
Day 4
Time read: about 4 hours
Pages read: 240
Books finished: 1
Evaluation: so even with walking the puppy for about 2 hours all added up I managed to make it to about 4 hours. Do you know how hard it is to keep track of how long you've been reading? Cause I always forget to check when I started and breaks and such... Anyway: YAY FINISHED A BOOK! :)
Day 5
Time read: about 2 hours
Pages read: 120 pages
Books finished: 0
Evaluation: so I failed. I had a job interview in the afternoon and had zero concentration and a really high stress level before and after they told me I GOT THE JOB *SQUEEE* well, I just had no focus for a while after that either because I was freaking out and jumping up and down and calling my mom and everything. So I failed at my goal, but EPIC WIN on getting a job! :)
Day 6
Time read: 3,5 hours
Pages read: 250
Books finished: 1
Evaluation: made my goal, yay! Also walked the puppy and went out to dinner with my boyfriend to celebrate me getting a job, so all in all, I'd say 3,5 hours is a good score :)
Day 7
Time read: a little over 3 hours
Pages read: 120
Books finished: 0
Evaluation: made my goal, but just barely. Had to bring the puppy back to my parents :( And I've discovered that I can't read Days of Splendor, Days of Sorrow at the same pace I do other books, I mean, 120 pages in 3 hours is a little slow for me... Anyway, I spent this last day reading outside and it was wonderfully relaxing :)

Dewey's Read-a-Thon: End of the Thon
So final update, I've been doing pretty well this morning and manages to finish one book: Touch of Frost by Jennifer Estep. I really enjoyed it! But I'm a mythology geek, so it was pretty much a given :)
And now it's done, I'm going to continue reading today, as I didn't fully participate and well, I don't really have much else going on this Sunday. YAY READING!
To everyone who fully participated: you rock! I hope you get to rest somewhat today and I'm already looking forward to the next read-a-thon in October in which I hopefully will be able to join in more!

Dewey's Read-a-Thon Mini Challenge: Impromptu Dance Party
So, I've been doing pretty well since 6.30AM, I only took a break to drive my boyfriend to the train station and other than that I've been reading, though my parents are watching TV and it's really distracting...
Also, look at my reading buddy:
Cute right? :) And very warm and cuddly :D
So it's time for the mini challenge, I REALLY wanted to say I'd rock out to Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen, but our lovely host April @ Good Books and Good Wine already picked her, so I'm gonna do something else:
OR
How are you all holding up? Still going strong? What do you dance to when you (think) noone's watching? :)
