Top Ten Tuesday: Books on My Spring TBR!

As always, TTT is hosted by my other blog The Broke and the Bookish!

I'm gonna go ahead and list 10 shiny new releases that have caught my eye!

1. My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows: OMG I NEED THIS!! LIKE NOW!! I'm SO jealous of the people who managed to snag it off of Edelweiss because it was only up for a short time and I didn't check and AAAAAH! But I'll just pre-order it, so no problem.

2. The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson: So I fell in love with Morgan Matson's writing last year when I read Since You've Been Gone. Obviously I need to read this ASAP.

3. Dream On by Kerstin Gier: the first book in this series was my first read of 2015 and it was AMAZING! So I need this sequel in my life! I totally love Kerstin Gier's writing style.

4. The Rose and the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh: I think this will be on LOTS of lists. Because holy wow, the first book was beyond amazing and THAT ENDING!! Also, can we take a minute to appreciate the brilliance of these covers?

5. Once Was a Time by Leila Sales: I love Leila Sales. So this time travel book and me will get along very well if there's any logic in the world.

6. Romancing the Nerd by Leah Rae Miller: YES CONTEMPORARY FLUFFY BOOK!! COME TO ME NOOOOOWWWW!

7. The Skylighter by Becky Wallace: The first book was perfection and I'm betting this will be as well!

8. Because of Miss Bridgerton by Julia Quinn: Julia Quinn is amazing, she always brings the funny and the romance with all the feels and I'm just so ready for more of her genius.

9. The Natural History of Us by Rachel Harris: YES MORE FLUFFLY GOODNESS! This will be a perfect sit outside in the sunshine read.

10. The Crown's Game by Evelyn Skye: This just sounds like all kinds of exciting fantasy goodness and I am SO in.

So, that's my TBR for this Spring, let me know if we share any or if I need to add more books to my list (YES PLEASE)!

Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Songs I Wish Were Books!

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by my other blog The Broke and the Bookish.

I LOVE music, I'm always playing it in the background while I'm reading and YES to this TTT topic basically!! :)

1. Up All Night by Rosemary's Sons: this one is by a Dutch band and I LOVE the song and the images it conjures up, so I'd love if someone wrote a book inspired by this!

2. Gravity by Sara Bareilles: this song is everything. I would read it if it was a book. But this basically goes for all of Sara's songs, because they're all stories.

3. Lost by Jonathan Jeremiah: I'm a sucker for love songs and this is beautiful, talking about a flawed love that can't do without the other person.

4. Goodbye To You by Michelle Branch: I would love to read a story about the love and the life that she's saying goodbye to and choosing to be on her own.

5. Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen: because this would obviously be the cutest summer love story ever and I love me some fluffy awesomeness!

6. All In by Lifehouse: It was really hard for me to pick just one of Lifehouse's songs because OMG so much love for all of them! All about taking that leap and giving your all to someone else, I love it.

7. Accidentally in Love by The Counting Crows: Yes, it's another love song, but this would make for such a cute fluffly read in my opinion and I need more of those!

8. So Close by John McLaughlin: 'So close and still so far', I imagine that one seemingly unattainable love or the one whose off-limits like the brother's best friend or something like that. JUST MAKE IT WORK OK?

9. Stuck by Stacie Orrico: this song resonated SO well with 16/17-year old Daisy, I used to play it on repeat and to me it's so much about that time before I met my boyfriend when I used to crush on boys and it was just such an uncertain time in that I never knew what was up with this one guy and just UGH FRUSTRATION. "I hate you, but I love you". Yeah, that's basically right.

10. I'd Rather Be With You by Joshua Radin: I'm thinking another lovely fluffly contemporary romance. So obviously YES.

And this bonus one is one that I think Jamie will forgive me for stealing from her list:

Almost Lover by A Fine Frenzy: this is one that along with Stuck resonated with late-teenage Daisy and I used to listen to it on repeat all day long.

Any you'd love to see made into books as well?

Top Ten Tuesday: 2015 Releases I Meant To Get To But Didn't

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by my other blog The Broke and the Bookish

This list could also be dubbed as 'all the ways I failed in 2015'. Oh well.

1. Spinning Thorns by Anna Sheehan: I loved A Long, Long Sleep and am very excited by this fairytale retelling of Sleeping Beauty!

2. Mystic by Jason Denzel: this looks so, SO good! And the cover is so pretty! I failed at getting my hands on this, but it's on the list for 2016!

3. Walk On Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson: I can't believe I haven't read this, I LOVE Rae Carson's writing! This should me remedied soon.

4. The Shadow Behind the Stars by Rebecca Hahn: It's about the Fates. OBVIOUSLY I bought this, but then failed to read it..

5. Lair of Dreams by Libba Bray: The Diviners was amazing but this thing is HUGE and it scares me a little. But I will definitely read it!

6. The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin: there's really not enough buzz about this amazing author, I loved her Inheritance trilogy and really have no good excuse for why I failed to read this one.

7. Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard: there was SO much hype surrounding this book! I think that's part of why I failed to read it, but I'm still planning to!

8. Half a War by Joe Abercrombie: LOVE this series!! But I'm slightly terrified of reading the final book in a series, so this has been staring at me from my shelf...

9. The Shattered Court by M.J. Scott: this sounds amazing and I LOVE the cover!

10. Lying Out Loud by Kody Keplinger: 2015 was the year in which I discovered the awesomeness that is Kody Keplinger. I should really get my butt in gear and not only read this one, but ALL of her books.

Tell me what 2015 releases you missed out on reading!

Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Hyped Books I Haven't Read

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by my other blog The Broke and the Bookish

Note: I do actually own all of these books, so there's the intention to read them at some point in life.

1. The Wrat and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh: this has been getting a LOT of hype lately and OMG I desperately want to read it, but SO MANY BOOKS SO LITTLE TIME.

2. Simon Vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli: this has been pushed towards me by many, many people. And while at first glance I wasn't much interested, the things I've heard about it are SUPER cute, which is right up my alley.

3. The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski: basically this one got hype all over the place when it came out and it made me both want to read it and a little scared of it, but some day.

4. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell: this could have basically been ANY book by Rainbow Rowell, but I feel like this has been shoved into my face SO many times! And even though the description still doesn't hold all that much appeal to me, I still bought it, so you know, THE HYPE MONSTER WORKS.

5. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes: anything Jojo Moyes writes gets a lot of hype, but I started noticing with this one. I don't usually read books that deal with illness or the aftermath of accidents, but maybe this one is worth all the hype?

6. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor: *hides* I KNOW OK? I've been meaning to read this FOREVER but all the love slightly scares me...

7. My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick: basically I'm scared that I won't love this one as much as everyone and their great aunt did. But it does sound SO CUTE and fluffy contemporaries are my jam, so.

8. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn: this one of overhyped and even people who don't read know about this one, even before the movie came out. This is definitely out of my comfort zone, but as most books that get a movie, I do feel like I should read it. The debate is ongoing.

9. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith: some loved it, some didn't love it so much, but there has been a lot of talk about this one. I mean, 48 of my friends on Goodreads have read this (yes, I actually counted them). It has a cute British boy in it, what could possibly go wrong?

10. The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan: I think only J.K. Rowling writing a sequel to Harry Potter would have gotten more hype at the time. And since I LOVED the Percy Jackson series, I REALLY need to get it together and read this.

Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books I Plan To Have In My Beach Bag This Summer

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by my other blog The Broke and the Bookish

As I'm going on vacation next Tuesday (to Thailand, YAY!), here's what's on my list to read on one (or more) of their gorgeous beaches:

1. Valiant by Sarah McGuire: I found out late that the release date of this one had been moved up, so I'm reading it now, around its original release date. Also: YAY FAIRYTALE RETELLING!

2. The Invasion of the Tearling by Erika Johansen: seems fitting, as I read The Queen of the Tearling last year on vacation ;) Also, I think fantasy novels make for perfect beach reads.

3. Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella: I LOVE Sophie Kinsella and I'm really curious about her first YA novel!

4. Hello, I Love You by Katie M. Stout: This sounds super cute! Boarding schools! And a comparison to Anna and the French Kiss! How can this possibly go wrong?

5. The Night We Said Yes by Lauren Gibaldi: there's been a lot of buzz about this one, and I'm really excited to read it! It sounds like it could be kinda awesome.

6. Get Dirty by Gretchen McNeil: I read Get Even last year and really enjoyed it, this will serve as my Pretty Little Liars fix until it starts up again :)

7. The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West: KASIE WEST! ULTIMATE BEACH OR ANYWHERE ELSE READ. ALWAYS.

8. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas: I've heard this is amazing and steamy and this sounds like a perfect beach read to me. Or anywhere. Also: it's Sarah J. Maas, obviously I'm reading this as soon as possible. Quite possibly on the airplane, so there's not possibility of damaging it around sand/water/etc.

9. Wrong About the Guy by Claire LaZebnik: I like Claire LaZebnik's books and any adaptation of Emma will forever be read.

10. Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli: I've heard this is supercute and fluffy and happiness inducing. The only thing that will be missing if I read this on the beach, are Oreo's, cause I think it might be a little too hot for chocolate...

What's going to be in your beach bag? Tell me about your holiday plans!

Top Ten Tuesday: All Time Favourites From the Past 3 Years

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by my other blog The Broke and the Bookish

These are the books that I would count among my all time favourite list from 2012 till now. I'll admit that I cheated a bit by listing series, but I cannot list one of the books without talking about the others!

1. Throne of Glass, Crown of Midnight and Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas: it is really no secret that I have all the love for this series. It is amazing and I love Celaena and Dorian and Chaol and ROWAN and just this whole world that Sarah J. Maas has created and OMG I cannot wait to see what will happen next! These books always leave me with the worst hangover and it is GLORIOUS.

2. Shadow and Bone, Siege and Storm and Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo: another fantasy series I have completely fallen in love with and which is already finished and just writing this post makes me want to go grab the books and dive back into the Grisha world!

3. A Night Like This and The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn: I discovered how much I love Julia Quinn's writing over the last 3 years and these books are just *LOVE*. She's amazing and I just swoon and laugh at the stories and it's perfection.

4. Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein: wow, this book! I had not expected to love it as much as I did, but it punched me right in the feels and it was just AMAZING.

5. A Storm of Swords and A Feast for Crows by George R.R. Martin: I have so much love for this series! I'd read the previous books in the series before 2012, but I'm definitely counting these for the list!

6. For Darkness Shows the Stars by Diana Peterfreund: I had feels all over this book! It was SO good and OMG THE LETTER! I DIED!

7. The Crown of Embers and The Bitter Kingdom by Rae Carson: I'd read The Girl of Fire and Thorns in 2011. This series has such a hold on my heart! I love Elisa and Hector and all the other characters in this book, they've all wormed their way into my heart and I still cannot process that this series is finished and I won't be going on anymore adventures with them! It was amazing to see Elisa grow and come into her own!

8. Golden by Jessi Kirby: such an unexpected love! Golden blew me away and I really cannot for the life of me think of a good reason why I don't own a shiny copy of this book myself! I will forever fangirl over the beauty of the writing in Golden.

9. Splintered, Unhinged and Ensnared by A.G. Howard: I have so much love for this re-imagining of Wonderland and all its inhabitants! I loved seeing Alyssa grow into a true queen of Wonderland and while I may not be exactly satisfied with the way my ship went, I do get it and I still love this series as a whole.

10. The Bone Season and The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon: this series! It's just amazing and intricate and ok, The Bone Season was a bit heavy on the information we had to process, but it totally worked for me and I will just read the crap out of the rest of the books in this series that are still being written!

So that's my list, any we have in common? Anything you'd recommend based on my list? Let me know!

Top Ten Tuesday: Bookish Problems

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by my other blog The Broke and the Bookish

"I got 99 problems, but a book ain't one", right? Well...

1. TBR guilt: I have a huge amount of TBR guilt. I mean, I LOVE going into the room that has been turned into my personal library, but then all these books are STARING at me, making me feel guilty that I haven't read them yet and it's ridiculous, because I bought these books myself (or other people bought them for me) and I shouldn't feel this bad about having them just sitting there on the shelf, but I do!

2. The wait between books in a series: OMG, the waiting on some books is KILLING ME! I mean, the third book in The Kingkiller Chronicles anyone? I know it will be a thing of beauty when it gets released and it will be totally worth the wait, but I just cannot help wishing sometimes books would just hurry up and get here.

3. Moving: I love all my books, but I physically own over 900 of them (OMG, I cannot believe I own this many books!), this number was significantly lower a year ago when we moved to our new home and it was a pain to pack and carry and then unpack them again. I cannot imagine ever moving them myself again, I think we'll need to hire people.

4. Being a book hoarder: this basically goes along with #1 and 3, but I just cannot help myself when I see a shiny new release and I just buy it and it makes me feel happy, so I'm by now means going to stop doing this, but it does leave me with a lot of unread books and whole series that I own and have not started the first book from yet... And I know this is such a first world problem.

5. So many books, so little time: I WANT to read all the books, but there are not enough hours in the day and sometimes people expect me to leave my house and do significantly less important things like work or socialize.

6. Book hangover: This is not a problem in itself, cause it means I LOVED LOVED LOVED the book I was reading, but having ALL THE FEELINGS over a book and then being forced to spend time with people who have not experienced the same heartbreak or whatever is SO HARD. And sometimes I just cannot form a coherent sentence and it just seems like the world should just stop what it's doing and revel in the glory of the book with me, but a lot of the people I hang out with aren't big readers and they just don't understand.

7. Scaring people in restaurants: I'm part of the best book club ever and we meet once a month in a restaurant to discuss the book we read and EVERYTHING else and basically scare the other customers with our fangirling.

8. Judging people because they read Fifty Shades of Grey: I cannot help it ok? I'm a big believer of 'it doesn't matter what you read, as long as you're reading', but this goes for any book EXCEPT Fifty Shades of Grey. I even told one of my friends last Friday that I was judging her a bit for having read it (maybe this is a bit too much honesty?).

9. When the covers in a series don't match: Seriously, I HATE it when my covers don't match! I mean, it's one thing if I was zoning off in my happy book buying bliss and didn't realise I accidentally bought the wrong one, but I get so angry over publishers switching cover designs halfway through a series, because UGH! I have been shelving over money to buy the pretty covers and now you're telling me the last book will have a different cover?? And obviously I could just buy the first 2 with the new cover, but I don't really want two sets of everything. Though I do do this with books I absolutely loved.

10. Angst over books you lend to people: I worry about my books when someone borrows them. I even worry about them when the boyfriend is the one reading them, because a lot of people just aren't careful with them and just please don't damage my pretty books! This doesn't happen when I lend books to my book club friends, cause I know they treat books with the same respect I do. This also goes the other way, if I borrow a book from someone I keep angsting over accidentally spilling something on it, even though this NEVER happens.

So those are some of my bookish problems, any we have in common?

Top Ten Tuesday: 2014 Releases I Failed To Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted at my other blog The Broke and the Bookish

So, like I mentioned in my TTT list at the Broke and the Bookish, this list was way too easy to make. So here's the continuation of that list :)

The (Cute) Contemporaries

The Fine Art of Pretending by Rachel Harris: IT HAS A PRETEND RELATIONSHIP IN IT!!! HOW HAVE I NOT READ THIS YET??

My Faire Lady by Laura Wettersten: this sounds ADORABLE, but I still need to get my hands on a copy.

Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson: so basically everybody seems to love this and I still haven't read it or any other book by Morgan Matson... Daisy fail...

To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han: this sounds like so much fun! It would be totally mortifying if all my past or actual crushes got letters telling them about my feelings..

Open Road Summer by Emery Lord: this seems to be a hit with everyone and I just haven't gotten around to acquiring a copy. But this will change soon-ish!

The Historical Awesomeness

Manor of Secrets by Katherine Longshore: this sounds like such a me-read and REALLY need to read it!

A Mad, Wicked Folly by Sharon Biggs Waller: my friend Debby keeps RAVING about this book and it sounds really good, so I'll be reading this soon.

The Paranormal Side of Things

Illusions of Fate by Kiersten White: this hasn't gotten a lot of buzz, but it sounds like something I could love and Kiersten White is awesome.

Second Star by Alyssa B. Sheinmel: it's a Peter Pan retelling! I need this story in my life!

Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins: I totally loved the first two books in her Hex Hall series (haven't read the third one yet), so I'm excited about this as it combines Belles and magic!

Let me know if you've read any of these and which I should bump up to the top of my TBR list!

Top Ten Tuesday: Most Anticipated Debut Novels For 2015

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by my other blog: The Broke and the Bookish

So it's been a while since I did a TTT on my own blog instead of doing the list or collaborating on it for The Broke and the Bookish! But here goes:

1. The Storyspinner by Becky Wallace: this just sounds like my kind of fantasy and I love the cover and I just expect EPICNESS ok?

2. Bookishly Ever After by Isabel Bandeira: following advice from your favourite novels to get the boy you want to fall for you? SOUNDS AWESOME!

3. Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard: I am in love with this cover! And I hear good things about it from one of my fantasy loving friends, so I'm definitely in.

4. The Conspiracy of Us by Maggie Hall: a secret society. Racing across Europe. Masked balls. DO I NEED TO GO ON?

5. Hello, I Love You by Katie M. Stout: I do also read contemporary ;) And this sounds super cute!

6. A Wicked Thing by Rhiannon Thomas: a sleeping beauty retelling, OBVIOUSLY I'm in!

7. The Oathbreaker's Shadow by Amy McCulloch: this sounds EPIC and I love the idea of promises bound by knots and it's got a blurb by Robin Hobb, so I'm just gonna read this and hopefully love the crap out of it.

8. The Night We Said Yes by Lauren Gibaldi: this has the potential to be utterly heartbreaking.

9. One of the Guys by Lisa Aldin: I love a good tomboy story and this sounds like it good make for some good fluffy entertainment and I need this in my life.

10. Proof of Forever by Lexa Hillyer: a book about friendship and second chances that I think could be really good!

So that's it for me, I just realised that I don't know all that much about debut novels for 2015, any you'd recommend adding to me TBR list?

Top Ten Books That Will Make You Swoon!

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by my other blog The Broke and the Bookish

GUYS! The topic of this week is SO me! I mean, I love swooning over books and I have a ton I could add to this list :D

1. Pivot Point by Kasie West: guys, I could swoon over Trevor all day long, I'm not even kidding you. Actually, both boys were swoony, but Trevor has a special place in my heart.

2. Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake by Sarah MacLean: I'm an unashamed Sarah MacLean fan and this is the book that first convinced me of her brilliance. She never fails to write a swoony romance and Callie and Gabriel are such an amazing couple!

3. Crown of Embers by Rae Carson: HECTOR!!! I swoon so hard over Hector! With his whole military manliness and just MY HEART! OK? I swooned over the whole series, which aside from being an amazing epic fantasy series also has fantastic romance, but Crown of Embers made me fall head over heels for Hector, so it gets a place on this list.

4. Captured by a Rogue Lord by Katharine Ashe: this is actually part of my review: "He thinks he's not suited to be anyone's hero, but for Serena he wants to be. He's a really good person at heart and oh-my-gosh SWOONWORTHY!! I love that he's the pirate version of Robin Hood: stealing from the rich bad-guys, giving to the orphans and war-widows."
So: SWOONY PIRATE! YES!

5. Unbreak My Heart by Melissa C. Walker: there's such a sweet swoonworthy boy and romance in this book! It totally melted my heart :)

6. Any Duchess Will Do by Tessa Dare: from my review "And guys, THE ROMANCE! SAH-WOON! THIS is what I want from my romance novels! Tension and steamyness and a real connection and HEARTBREAK and OMG ALL OF THE GOOD STUFF!"
Tessa Dare also brings the funny alongside the swoons and I love it!

7. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins: Yes I swoon over Etienne. SO much.

8. The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn: SO MUCH LOVE for this book! I totally adored it and there is an extremely swoonworthy man and romance in it :)

9. How the Marquess Was Won by Julie Anne Long: Julie Anne Long is along with the other ladies on this list among my favourite historical romance authors and this book made me swoon hard!

10. One Good Earl Deserves a Lover by Sarah MacLean: yes, that's right, Sarah MacLean is so awesome that she made my list twice! I basically ignored everything around me and just read on till morning to finish this and it was BLISS!

So that's it for me, any recommendations? I always love finding more books and boys to swoon over ;)

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Wish Had Sequels

As always, Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by my other blog The Broke and the Bookish.

This week we're talking about books we wished had sequels. And really, there are some books out there that I just can't seem to figure out there's not a sequel (yet)! I hope we'll see some of them pop up in the future :)

1. Witchlanders by Lena Coakley: Witchlanders is the first book that popped into my head when I saw the topic. You guys, it's SUCH a great book and it hasn't really gotten a lot of buzz, but this right here is me BEGGING for a sequel!

2. The Cadet of Tildor by Alex Lidell: Oh man, this is one of the best debuts I've read this year and it's fantasy and I am SO not done having adventures with all these characters!!

3. The International Kissing Club by Ivy Adams: This was such a fun book!! I loved the collaboration between these 3 authors and I really hope they'll write a sequel to the International Kissing Club!

4. The Demon Catchers of Milan by Kat Beyer: I really enjoyed this book and it FELT like the first in a series, but I can't find anywhere if there's gonna be a sequel or not...

5. The Bitter Kingdom by Rae Carson: Ok, so I know this isn't even out yet, but I LOVED this book and this whole series so much and more of Elisa and Hector can NEVER be a bad thing!

6. Tarnish by Katherine Longshore: SO much love for this book!! It totally made Anney Boleyn human and was just amazing and while we left it on a hopeful note, I would love to see Katherine Longshore describe the rest of Anne's story. Or write another novel about an amazing historical figure. Or anything at all. I'm not all that picky here.

7. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins: as the other books will be companion novels, it doesn't really count and I'd love another book focused on Anna and Etienne!

8. The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab: LOVED this book! It read like a fairytale and I'm wondering what will happen in the town after the events in the Near Witch!

9. The Crimson Crown by Cinda Williams Chima: This is the ending to one of my favourite fantasy series EVER. And I so want to stay in this world and hang out with Han and Raisa again and everybody else!

10. The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss and ALL THE OTHER SEQUELS IN SERIES I'M WAITING FOR: Yeah, there are so many books that I'm dying to read the sequels of and they will actually be published, but AAAH THE WAIT IS KILLING ME!

So there you have it, I cheated slightly on the last one, but the others are genuine wishes for more books PLEASE!
Leave me a link to your TTT and I'll be sure to check it out!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Scare the Bejeezus Out of Me!

As always, Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by my other blog The Broke and the Bookish.

Today we're talking about those books that intimidate you. And I have a lot of those. I also refere you to this TTT from July 2010. I'm proud to say I've actually read some of the books on the list since then ;)

1. Divergent by Veronica Roth: I know, ok, I suck. I REALLY want to read this, but the amount of love it has gotten is SCARY. Someone read this with me?

2. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon: Sarah from Sarah Says Read loves this series so much that I bought the first book, but I'm still a little scared to read it, the size intimidates me and what if I don't love it???

3. The Fault In Our Stars by John Green: Can I tell you a secret? I haven't read ANY of John Green's books... This falls straight into the 'I suck' category. This book scares me because I usually avoid books that deal with cancer because it brings my work a little too much home with me and I like happy books. And the ugly crying I foresee over this one is scary as well..

4. Inheritance by Christopher Paolini: Seriously, reading the ending of a series SCARES ME! I loved the first three books, but what if the ending to the series sucks??? WHAT WILL I DO THEN??

5. All of Cassandra Clare's books: SO MUCH HYPE!! Also, it's a HUGE commitment to read both of her series!

6. The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling: I've heard lots of 'meh' sounds about this one, I still want to read it, I just need to gather all my courage for it...

7. If I Die by Rachel Vincent: I hear events in this book will break my heart. I like my heart unbroken.

8. The Warrior Heir by Cinda Williams Chima: I LOVED her Seven Realms series SO MUCH!! What if this one doesn't work for me???

9. The Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean M. Auel: My grandmother loved this series. And I very much loved my grandmother. I don't think I'll get over it if I DON'T love this series...

10. Blood Promise by Richelle Mead: Because: WHAT IF THINGS DON'T GET FIXED??? SERIOUSLY???

11. ALL OF THE OTHER HYPED BOOOKS/LAST BOOKS IN THE SERIES: Which doesn't really need an explanation.

So that's it for me, I have all these classics I'm intimidated by as well, but let's not delve into that right now ;)
Leave me a link to your TTT and I'll be sure to visit you!

Top Ten Books I HAD To Buy But Are Still Sad and Neglected

So it's been FOREVER since I participated in one of these! As always, Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by my other blog: The Broke and the Bookish

This could have easily been the Top 300 books I had to buy but are still sad and neglected... I have a list of shame on Goodreads.

I cannot resist shiny new releases

Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes: this sounds like such a ME-book and the cover is GORGEOUS!

The Diviners by Libba Bray: I LOVED the Gemma Doyle series and couldn't resist this new series by Libba Bray!

The New Books By Authors I Love

The Killing Moon by N.K. Jemisin: I can't believe there isn't more buzz about this author, her Inheritance Trilogy is AMAZING! Of course I had to pick up this book! And the sequel.

The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan: SO MUCH LOVE for Percy Jackson! Seriously, I cannot believe I haven't picked this up yet!

The I Know, I Can't Believe It Either

Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins: I know ok, I ADORED Anna and the French Kiss and Lola keeps staring me down accusingly, but sweetly.

Divergent by Veronica Roth: I KNOW! *hides* Don't yell at me! I even own Insurgent...

My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult: this has been on my shelf for AGES. And I won't see the movie without reading the book, so...

The Duke and I by Julia Quinn: I LOVED A Night Like This and I own several of her earlier books and I STILL haven't read them! I suck...

The Next In The Series Excitement

Inheritance by Christopher Paolini: I think this was one of the first books I ever pre-ordered and I cannot believe I still haven't picked it up yet, I love this series!

Boundless by Cynthia Hand: I am both scared and REALLY excited to get to Boundless, but I want to read undisturbed and haven't find the right moment yet!

Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi: Shatter Me was one of my favourite reads of 2012 and I just can't justify not having read this yet other than that I will need to devour it in one go.

Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi: same goes for this one, LOVED Under the Never Sky, NEED to read this.

So I had a REALLY hard time narrowing it down! The list is endless and I fear it will only get longer over time... Any you share or that I need to read RIGHT NOW?

Top Ten Favourite New-To-Me Authors of 2012

It's time for another Top Ten Tuesday hosted by the other blog I am one of the contributors for The Broke and the Bookish.

This week it's all about your Top Ten favourite authors you've 'discovered' in 2012. I'm going to be breaking this up into two categories:

Debut Authors

Tahereh Mafi: Ok, so I know this may not really count because she's not a 2012 debut author, but I read her Shatter Me in 2012 and it was SO AMAZING! I'm completely addicted to her writing style and I wish Unravel Me would hurry up and get here already!

Sarah J. Maas: So I knew she wasn't really a new-to-me author as I've read the then title Queen of Glass rough draft when it was on Fictionpress, but this year was the first time I read her as a published author and Throne of Glass was everything I could have wanted and even with the years of putting it on a pedestal in my mind it didn't disappoint.

Leigh Bardugo: Shadow and Bone easily ranks among my favourites of 2012, I'm dying for Siege and Storm to be released!

Elizabeth Wein: I hadn't expected to love Code Name Verity as much as I did, but it was SO amazing! I LOVED the writing and felt ALL THE THINGS!

Katherine Longshore: GILT! Need I say more? LOVE me some historical YA set in the court of Henry VIII!

Stephanie Kate Strohm: if you can have me laughing and swooning with your contemporary romance, you're my kind of author.

Veronica Rossi: I almost passed on Under the Never Sky because I wasn't sure if it would be a 'me' book, but I completely fell in love with the story and the writing and GAH! Through The Ever Night needs to be here already!

OMG, what's wrong with me that I never read their books before??

Myra McEntire: LOVE her Hourglass series! LOVE! How did I skip over it when it was first released??

Julia Quinn: I KNOW! How can my love of historical romance novels NOT have led me to Julia Quinn before?? Especially with my Broke and Bookish buddy Julia recommending her books? Consider me a proper fan now.

Melina Marchetta: LOVED Finnikin of the Rock, I cannot believe it took me so long to finally read it, it was simply amazing.

Because it's my blog and I'm allowed to cheat

Brodi Ashton: Everneath sucked me in (no pun intended) and made me feel EVERYTHING and it just completely pulled me out of my reading slump, SO MUCH LOVE!

Jodi Meadows: Aside from having one of the most beautiful covers of 2012 and Jodi being awesome at knitting pretty fingerless mitts, Incarnate blew me away all on its own and I'm dying to dive back into this world Jodi Meadows has created!

I can't believe I actually managed to keep it to 12, there are so many authors I would love to spotlight and thank for the amazing books that had me in book heaven this year!
Link me up to your TTT lists and let me know if you have any recommendations!

Top Ten Most Anticipated Books For 2013

So this week my Top Ten Tuesday list is up over at The Broke and the Bookish! And because looking for books to put on my list made me open about 43 windows with books' Goodreads pages, I couldn't possibly limit myself to 10. So here I'm doing a little twist and make this:

Top Ten Anticipated Sequels of 2013

Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi: because more Aria and Perry and Roar can NEVER be a bad thing! LOVED Under the Never Sky!

Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo: Shadow and Bone was such an amazing start of this series!! NEED MORE!

Dance of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin: I hadn't expected to love Mask of the Red Death so much, but I did and I cannot wait to find out what happens next!

Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi: Tahereh Mafi has such an unique writing style that completely sucked me in and made me feel all the things in Shatter Me, so YAY getting back to that world!

Asunder by Jodi Meadows: HarperTeen has the best team working on their covers! Incarnate had such an interesting concept and Sam totally stole my heart!

Everbound by Brodi Ashton: EEE! THE ENDING OF EVERNEATH! It nearly killed me! SO GOOD!

Last Book in the Series

The Bitter Kingdom by Rae Carson: LOVED, LOVED, LOVED both The Girl of Fire and Thorns and The Crown of Embers and was DEVASTATED by the ending. Heart ripped out, stomped on and all that. So I really need this book. Now.

The Goddess Inheritance by Aimee Carter: Goddess Interrupted ended on SUCH a cliffhanger and I'm both sad and excited to read the final instalment of this lovely series!

Boundless by Cynthia Hand: TEAM TUCKER! Seriously, I know Christian has his moments, but I'm still firmly Team Tucker. So sad this series is ending...

Sever by Lauren DeStefano: I haven't even read Fever yet, bad me... But I pre-ordered this one so I can marathon them if I haven't gotten to it before the release date! :)

Requiem by Lauren Oliver: The same goes here: I haven't read Pandemonium either, but I'm scared because of the cliffhanger ending and all and will probably need this IMMEDIATELY. So I might wait a little longer till my pre-order of Requiem gets here :)

So that's more than 10, but who's counting? Not me.
Let me know if I've missed any you're looking forward to and link me to your list!

Top Ten Tuesday: Summer TBR List!

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the other blog I'm part of: The Broke and the Bookish. Every week we share our Top Ten list for a different topic, we'd love for you to join in as well!

This week has got me all featured with my list of book on my Summer TBR list and because there are too many beyond awesome releases, I will cheat and add the ones I couldn't fit in there to this list :)

1. What's Left of Me by Kat Zhang: Two souls in one body! And this is NORMAL for the society Kat Zhang has created! Consider me fascinated already!

2. My Super Sweet Sixteent Century by Rachel Harris: Getting blasted back to the past is one of my dreams and I really hope to fall into something and come back in some romantic era. In the meantime, I will sigh over it happening in novels and live vicariously through the characters.

3. The Demon Catchers of Milan by Kat Beyer: YES ITALY! YES DEMON FIGHTING FAMILY! Enough said really.

4. Erasing Time by C.J. Hill: I'm also fascinated by the future. I wouldn't want to be transported there (this counts as a disclaimer right?), these girls are and it sounds like they have to save the world as well while they're there!

5. Touched by Cyn Balog: It sounds AMAZING! I shamefully confess that I haven't read anything by Cyn Balog yet, though I do own Sleepless. But I'm going to fix this shortcoming in my character soon!

6. The Debutantes by Cora Harrison: I still need to get my hands on I Was Jane Austen's Best Friend, but this one sounds SO GOOD as well!! I mean, it's set in 1923 and I secretly believe I would have made an excellent debutante! Well, except maybe for the whole sarcasm thing and wanting to be a doctor thing...

7. Once by Anna Carey: I LOVED Eve and that cliffhanger ending left me going NOOO! How will I survive till the sequel comes out? Turns out I did manage to, but barely, and now I will get to read Once! YAY!

8. Dark Companion by Marta Acosta: A seriously creepy school! Sounding all mysterious and intriguing and just all kinds of awesome!

9. The White Glove War by Katie Crouch: I enjoyed The Magnolia League SO MUCH and it's left me DYING to read the sequel!

10. Silver by Talia Vance: I've never read anything based on Celtic Mythology before, but COUNT ME IN!

So, this was me cheating with a second Top Ten list :) Let me know what you've got on your list and if you agree with any of my choices! Any I need to add to it immediately? Break out the piggy bank for?

Top Ten Books To Read In One Day

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

For future Top Ten Tuesday topics, check them out here!

This week's Top Ten Tuesday is all about books to read in one day. So it's basically a list of books that had me so on the edge of my seat reading them that I shushed everyone who dared interrupt me :)
Also, my list is totally featured on The Broke and the Bookish today, so it is in fact a duplicate of that list ;)

1. Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi: Seriously you guys, if you haven't read this book and are a fan of good dystopian YA GO OUT AND GET YOUR HANDS ON IT NOW! It was SO good and I just wanted to keep reading from the moment I started it.

2. Witchlanders by Lena Coakley: I'm still not entirely sure how this book hasn't been getting more buzz cause it's so incredibly awesome! The writing is beautiful and I absolutely didn't want to put it down. I'm still wishing there will be a sequel.

3. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins: towards the end there is too much tension to find out if there will be a happily ever after to put it down for the night! I had so much adrenaline going on I couldn't sleep after even though it left me with a big smile on my face!

4. If I Stay by Gayle Forman: reading this was such a rush and I couldn't bring myself to stop until I reached the end. I was an emotional wreck after finishing it.

5. Delirium by Lauren Oliver: because the ENDING! The storytelling is wonderful and it completely sucked me in, but after the ending you will wish you had already had the forsight to order Pandemonium as well so you can read it straight after! Although I'm told Pandemonium also ends on a cliffhanger...

6. Nine Rules To Break When Romancing A Rake by Sarah MacLean: the romance in this one is AMAZING! Really, this whole series is wonderful. There's all this tension and conflict and heartbreak and a swoonworthy man... If you like historical romance, definitely read this one. I couldn't put it down to save my life.

7. Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier: because it's a classic that's actually exciting and will have you wanting to know what exactly is going on at Manderley and what the deal is with Rebecca.

8. Graceling by Kristin Cashore: do I even need to explain why? It's EPIC fantasy and it needs to be read all at once to get the full experience!

9. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins: I started this book and 'woke up' 374 pages later to discover several hours and meals had passed. You will thank yourself for picking a time when you can read it all at once when you start it cause doing other stuff will just feel irrelevant.

10. You Wish by Mandy Hubbard: because it's just absolutely cute and a great way to spend a sunny/rainy/neutral weather afternoon. It is that good.

So what are books you read in one day? Or books you think should be read in one day? I personally feel that most books are best experienced when you read all of it in a short amount of time and I seem to enjoy them more when I do read them in one day.

Top Ten Books On My Spring TBR List!

As always, Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and that's me you see being featured there this week :)

You guys! It's the first day of spring today!! And what better way to kick off this season which means bye-bye to the nasty cold (a girl can hope right?) than to break out a list with the exciting books coming out between March 20th and June 21st 2012??

I'm doing new releases, but of course it can also be books that are already out, cause a TBR list is just the books you're wanting/hoping to read.

To give you fair warning: you guys know I can never seem to play by the rules right?

1. Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin: the cover for this one is absolutely gorgeous and I've heard people who've been lucky enough to get an ARC gush about it so much I can't wait to read it!

2. Grave Mercy by R.L. LaFevers: it's about NUNS who are ASSASSINS! Enough said really.

3. A Breath of Eyre by Eve Marie Mont: I LOVE Jane Eyre, so this girl falling right into the story is my dream!

4. Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore: I know, I still need to read Fire, but I couldn't resist pre-ordering the shiny new book that will be Bitterblue! I adored Cashore's writing in Graceling and I'm sure I'll love this one as well, I've been hearing nothing but wonderful things about Bitterblue!

5. Until I Die by Amy Plum: the second book in the Revenant series, I absolutely LOVED Die For Me when I read it last year and I can't wait to see what happens next for Kate and Vincent. And the cover is just gorgeous!

6. Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo: YAY NEW FANTASY AUTHOR! I'm really excited about this one, it's supposed to be really good, I can't wait to read it! :) The main character sounds like she'll kick some major behind and I love it when my heroines do that!

7. Of Poseidon by Anna Banks: MERMAIDS! I have a thing for mermaids. And this book sounds amazing!

8. Revived by Cat Patrick: cause really, how could I resist a book that has a main character called Daisy? And one that doesn't sound like she's simpering in a corner for a change?!

9. Struck by Jennifer Bosworth: a girl who is struck by lightning all the time and survives and has strange powers and such. Call me fascinated!

10. The sequels I couldn't all fit into this Top Ten (see, told you I cheat): AKA Black Heart by Holly White (this series is THE awesome!), Goddess Interrupted by Aimee Carter (I really enjoyed the Goddess Test, yay Greek Mythology!), Dreamless by Josephine Angelini (I was DEVASTATED at the end of Starcrossed! And again: YAY MYTHOLOGY!)

So that's my list, I actually went a little crazy and pre-ordered almost all of these... :) What are you all planning to read this spring? Any exciting books I should know about? I'm always looking to add books to my TBR list, so let me know what I forgot/should definitely order as well!

Top Ten Books of 2011

Look at me being all featured on The Broke and the Bookish!!

But just in case you missed it ;) I'll crosspost my list here.

I hope you have all recovered from the food-induced sleepiness that is always sure to hit me at Christmas and have had a wonderful time with your loved ones!

On to the business part of this Top Ten Tuesday, this week's topic:
The Top Ten books you read in 2011

This is gonna be hard for me, cause I want to list so many, but here goes.

1. The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss: I have waited SO LONG for this book!! And it was AMAZING! If you haven't read the first book in this series, the Name of the Wind, and you enjoy fantasy, you should read it, cause it's awesome! Also, I need the next book, like yesterday!

2. The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab: this book! THIS BOOK! It was so insanely amazing I wrote a gushing review about it! This book made me believe in fairytales again and it was wonderfully beautiful!

3. Witchlanders by Lena Coakley: EPIC FANTASY! I love fantasy, as you can probably guess from my list and this one was fabulous! I wonder how this has not gotten a lot of buzz, cause it's amazing! This is a book I want to shove at everyone and make them read it, and bonus: this book works for boys as well as girls. Virtually no romance, but lots of amazing storytelling.

4. Delirium by Lauren Oliver: I was a bit hesitant to read this at first, but OMG, this was SO GOOD! I didn't want to stop reading this and the ending left me needing cuddles and wishing I already had the next one waiting for me, cause this wait is SLOWLY KILLING ME! I am so pre-ordering Pandemonium...

5. The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley: this book took me by surprise, as I hadn't expected to love it so much! It is a pretty clean historical and contemporary romance novel as the main character travels back and forth in time and it is simply wonderful! I felt shocked, I cried, I was yelling for them to KISS ALREADY!! And I didn't care it got me funny looks!

6. The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson: another fantasy, this was a good fantasy year it seems ;) I LOVED this book! It has a strong female lead and I'm dying to find out what happens next for Elisa! The Godstone is fascinating!

7. The Demon King, The Exiled Queen and the Gray Wolf Throne by Cinda Williams Chima: I am naming the whole series, because it was fabulous! And another series I would give to a boy (I'm making my boyfriend read them right now). I love the main characters Han and Raisa! They are both so beyond amazing! And I love to hate the 'bad guys' in this one, which is always fun :)

8. Unearthly by Cynthia Hand: so, confession: angel books haven't really been working so well for me, but THIS ONE DID!! Seriously, there's virtually no preaching and Clara is wonderful and I am so Team Tucker with his amazing boy-ness being swoonworthy and all! I have been lucky enough to have already read Hallowed, and it is also amazing!

9. The Kingdom of Gods by N.K. Jemisin: I have fallen in love with this whole series and I think I can safely say this one is my favourite of the trilogy! It focuses on Sieh and is just wonderful. I read this during the Dewey 24-hour Read-a-Thon and didn't once feel the inclination to sleep. It was THAT good.

10. Die For Me by Amy Plum: REVENANTS! They are SO cool! Seriously, I loved this book! I am also so pre-ordering Until I Die :)

And, cause you really didn't think I could narrow it down to just 10 (you didn't right?:

11. Princess for Hire and The Royal Treatment by Lindsey Leavitt: SO EXTREMELY CUTE! These are the first 2 books in a MG series and it is fabulous! I love the whole idea of substituting for princesses! I wish I had a little girl in my life I could give these books to!

12. Tuesdays at the Castle by Jessica Day George: another MG and ADORABLE! I had a huge grin on my face while I was reading this and I loved every minute of it! As the abovementioned Princess for Hire series, I would love to have a little girl I could give this to!

So, that's my list. How does yours compare? There are lots of books I think I'll see on all of your lists that have not made mine for the simple fact that I have not read them yet (I am thinking Divergent, Daughter of Smoke and Bone, Shatter Me, Lola and the Boy Next Door, The Night Circus...). Let's hope they're on next year's list :)

Top Ten Books on my Winter TBR List!

Look at me being all featured on The Broke and the Bookish!!

But just in case you missed it ;) I'll crosspost my list here.

1. Hallowed by Cynthia Hand: Well OBVIOUSLY this one would be on the list! I LOVED Unearthly and have pre-ordered this one, I'm avoiding reviews until I've read it myself, but TEAM TUCKER!

2. Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi: 2012 debut author, I have heard many, many good things about this book and have also pre-ordered this one :) And it especially makes me happy to hear one blogger describe it as a 'dystopian meets high fantasy' because I LOVE dystopians AND fantasy!

3. Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver: I am betting this one will be on a lot of lists doing new releases ;) I thought Delirium was amazing and that ending killed me! So yes, I am insanely jealous of those lucky bloggers who got an ARC! I am so reading this one the second it gets out!

4. Fever by Lauren DeStefano: another one probably featured on more lists than just mine ;) I absolutely loved Wither and this have another jealous moment, the same as for Pandemonium. If you haven't read Wither, you should! It's amazing!

5. Midnight in Austenland by Shannon Hale: me and Jana are fans of Austenland, she reviewed it on this blog, so when I saw this one coming out I KNEW I had to read it! Fans of Jane Austen and P&P: Austenland was such a cute read and I'm betting this one will be as well!

6. Everneath by Brodi Ashton: another 2012 debut author! This book sounds insanely amazing and I can't wait to read it! Oh, and I have some serious cover love for this one!

7. Scarlet by A.C. Gaughen: this one sounds fabulous as well, with Scarlet (I'm thinking Will Scarlet in the original story) actually being a girl instead of a boy! I LOVE the tale of Robin Hood, so I think this will be just the book for me.

8. New Girl by Paige Harbison: a YA retelling of Rebecca, you better believe I'm gonna be reading this!!

9. Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood: I love witches! This book sounds like all kinds of awesome! It's described as A Great and Terrible Beauty meets Cassandra Clare, and while I haven't read any of Ms. Clare's books (I know, I suck), I loved the Gemma Doyle books, so I think this will be good :)

10. Incarnate by Jodi Meadows: you could read this book for the fabulous cover alone. Seriously, it's so pretty! Another 2012 debut author :)

10+1. Tempest by Julie Cross: Yes, I cheat, it's what I do ;) (but really, I will be reading a lot more than just 10 books, so I'm allowed) Time travel is hard to do well and I'm looking forward to see Ms. Cross' take on it! And can you say cover love? ;)

So, that's my list, there are a lot of 2012 debut authors on them and some sequels and such. Let me know if I missed any! And leave your link below so I can check yours out!
